This programme is dedicated to my fellow entrepreneurs who hustle on a daily basis. Giving their blood, sweat and tears to make wild dreams become a passionate reality.

Foreword

I have always been intrigued by entrepreneurship.  The possibility of a business (in my case a business in beauty) not having limits, other than your mind set fascinates, empowers and drives me.  Knowing that you have the capacity to exceed your expectations and reach the goals of your own financial, professional and personal destiny is exciting.  Being an entrepreneur presents the highest highs and the lowest lows.  It can be a lone journey at times, yet so fulfilling.  It is something, a culture that I wish each human being on this planet can experience.

That is what drove me to write this programme.  Not only to write it, but to direct it at my fellow businesses in beauty, hair, health and fashion.  As scholars, we as beauty professionals have so much to learn and take in.  Often this results in business skills being neglected at our institutions of learning.  The bigger picture is that beauty business entrepreneurs often operate on smaller profit margins, at a loss, or many times end up not making it at all.

This is a summary of my journey through the business world.  This is the end result of inspiration from my mentors and the Simon Sinkeks, Richard Brandsons, Stephen Coveys, Robin Sharmas and Brad Sugars of the world.  May it aid and inspire you to take your beauty business to new heights.  To turn your dreams into your reality, as I have.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I was born and raised in Klerksdorp , South Africa.  I moved to the heart of South Africa-Bloemfontein in 2007 to pursue a career in Somatology and studied at the Central University of Technology.  My entrepreneurial spirit fired up early in life and I went straight on to start my first, small beauty salon in a life style centre.  In four short years the salon grew into an advanced aesthetic clinic.  During this time I worked part time as a somatology lecturer at the Central University of Technology.  Although I loved my clients and this business, it was surpassed by my love for education.

My experience in both beauty and education next lead to the distribution and training sector of the beauty industry.  At 25 I took over the reigns to Nov-U, a professional salon supply distribution. In 6 years Nov-U has shown a 400% revenue and profit growth and stands firm.

My next stop was my first international training in Madrid, Spain in 2014 followed by the beauty world trade show in Dubai in 2016 and 2017.  I was in love with my industry and the opportunities it presented.  I went on to develop my own brand Beauty Innovation under which I started doing my own imports and product development.  In 2017 I was rewarded with the South African Business and Excellence Forums Young Entrepreneur of the year and ended top 3 for Retailer of the Year as well as Female Entrepreneur of the year.

Despite national and international opportunities, my heart is in the City of Roses.  Doing business from Bloemfontein hosts a string of advantages, resources and a quality of life.  What started out as a small beauty salon has evolved into a small empire of businesses in beauty.

I currently own and am involved in Nov-U professional supplies and education, various Kryolan professional make up retail stores, an import company Beauty Innovation with its developed brands under the same name.  I offer small to medium business consulting for businesses specialising in the beauty industry. A feat I have dreamed of doing, giving back and passing on the skills passed onto me through my mentors, experience and education.

I will continue to build ,collaborate in and empower beauty business development in South Africa. We have so much to give.

At heart, I am a free spirit who loves to travel, eat chocolate and take photos. My love, friends and family are my world. I am centred in Christ.
